For the past few years Seaworld Orlando has been investing in some of the biggest rides in Orlando. 2019 sees a shift as Seaworld has its sights firmly set on attracting families to its park with the 2019 debut of Sesame Street Land.

Occupying the former Shamu Happy Harbour near Shamu Stadium, the area has been completely reinvented. The focus is on interactivity and fun for little ones in the six acre themed area.

Mark Pauls, current President of SeaWorld Orlando Parks says, “We are thrilled to announce the opening date for this much anticipated attraction and we cannot wait to welcome guests to Sesame Street at SeaWorld Orlando on March 27. With over 30 new ways to play and an award-winning parade, this is an attraction that guests of all ages are going to love.”

Sesame Street brings huge brand awareness with it. How many of us remember growing up with Elmo, Big Bird, Abbey and Cookie Monster? As cute as Shamu’s Happy Harbour was, there was very little awareness outside of the local market. Bringing a Sesame Street re-skin while adding major new elements and attractions brings a much needed connection to Seaworld’s primarily international visitor base.

Not just intent in bringing a re-branding to existing attractions, you can feel like you’re actually walking down Sesame Street. Stop by the famous Stoop 123 then explore the inside of Hoopers Store before heading for some fun at Big Bird’s Nest.

As well as sone headline grabbing attractions, interactivity is key to the success of Sesame Street. The Bike Shop Tricycle Challenge is a motion sensing interactive game where kids use their body to control a virtual tricycle to collect numbers before the time runs out.

The Laundromat has washing machines with digital touchscreens displaying bubbles for visitors to pop. Can you work out what is washing inside? Even the queue lines have interactive things to occupy young minds while they wait to meet their favourite characters.

On the attractions side, you can get a birds eye view over all the fun of Sesame Street on Abby’s Flower Tower. Get ready to spin and swirl in a nest of your very own on Big Bird’s Twirl ‘N’ Whirl while previous visitors will know Super Grover’s Box Car Derby in its previous guise as Shamu Express, a small family coaster. In all there will be 7 attractions to compliment the interactive elements in the land. This will be topped off with a daily parade, a first for Seaworld Orlando, as it looks to grab more of the family market.

We won’t have to wait long to see what these new and updated additions are going to be like as they are scheduled to open later this week. If you already had a trip to Seaworld planned with your family, make you you visit from Wednesday 27th March onwards to enjoy this wonderful new family addition.
