The Busiest And Quietest Times In EPCOT
EPCOT Crowd Calendar
My EPCOT crowd calendar page projects crowd levels for Disney’s EPCOT Center theme park in Florida for the next few months based on historical data and known busy periods such as public and school holidays. As well as projected crowds I also list the main US holidays that typically bumps attendance in the parks and may affect your plans. It will be updated throughout the year as event dates are confirmed so please keep checking back.

How To Use
Using My EPCOT Crowd Calendar
My EPCOT crowd calendar scores each day in the park on a scale of 1 to 10. 1 being very quiet while 10 is as busy as it can get.
There is a lot of information to digest on this page so to help you scan the information quickly I have colour coded days depending on how busy it is.
Scanning the month overviews you may notice there are no longer many “quiet” days. Disney done a great job of spreading crowds out so there really is no such thing as a quiet day anymore. But don’t fret, with a little planning you can still have a great day on even a moderate crowded day in the world’s busiest theme park.

EPCOT’s events schedule is made up of a series of multi-week long “festivals” that add something a little different to EPCOT’s offerings. Crowds during festivals can be heavier at certain times.
EPCOT’s first festival , the International Festival Of The Arts’, starts not long into the new year and runs through mid-February. Despite the festival, mid to late January is a fairly quiet time in EPCOT after the Christmas madness.
During your visit check out the EPCOT Disney On Broadway concert series page to see who will be playing some of your favourite musical numbers from some of Disney biggest stage musicals.

February 2024
February in EPCOT largely mirrors January with quieter week days and busier weekends.
The first public holiday of the year, Presidents Day (every third Monday in February), brings the first opportunity for people to get away for a break.
Consequently, the week following Presidents Day is busy in EPCOT and Disney World in general as people take the opportunity to get away without having to use as much annual leave.
February also heralds EPCOT’s After Hours event, a separately ticketed event that allows you to stay in the park for a further 3 hours once the fireworks have finished. Enjoy short wait times for attractions and complimentary snacks as part of your ticket. For more information and to book tickets check out Disney’s EPCOT After Hours Event page.

March 2024
A quiet start to the month precludes the end of a very busy month in the Disney World as Spring Break crowds descend on Orlando en masse to let off some steam for a week or two.
EPCOTS most popular festival also debuts on the this month running through early July bumping attendance in the park at weekends and really not helping with Spring Break crowding.
If you are looking for a quiet time in the parks you might want to give late March (and early April) a bit of a wide berth especialy as the first 4 months of the year are busy in Disney World with dance championships bumping attendance at the hotels and theme parks over many weekends.

Low to moderate crowds coupled with fantastic weather and no significant public holidays until the end of the month make May a brilliant time to visit Orlando if you want to avoid peak crowds but still have the weather.
Also with most cheerleading championships being concluded, May is the first month of the year not to have a packed calendar somewhere on resort that may artificially bump up your accommodation pricing.
The better weather and International Flower & Garden Festival brings out more locals at the weekends but weekdays are a lot more crowd free particularly at park opening time.

Now every US state school is guaranteed to be off you can expect crowds to be uniformly busy throughout the whole month. Weekends are just as busy as weekdays.
The International Flower And Garden Festival comes to a close early in the month but it really makes very little difference to the crowds in EPCOT. Very soon after EPCOT starts the International Food And Wine Festival.
If you want to guarantee your attraction is going to be operating your best months to visit are June and July to coincide with the US School holiday system.

September 2024
September is largely a buffer month between summer holiday madness and Halloween celebrations.
September is quite possibly the quietest month to visit EPCOT and most of Disney World but that is all relative. Disney World is not your typical local park and first time visitors are often taken aback by how busy it can be even on “quiet” days.
The International Food And Wine Festival also has its own selection of local and big name music acts. Find out who is playing during your visit by checking the EPCOT Food And Wine Festival Eat To The Beat concert series page.

October has always been a popular time for people to visit Orlando because of separate ticketed events at Universal and Seaworld as well as at the Magic Kingdom in Disney World.
EPCOT leaves most of the Halloween celebrating to Magic Kingdom which is reflected in crowd patterns that hover around average for most of the month during the week, only getting noticeably busier on Saturdays

November 2024
November in Orlando is largely another buffer month in between two popular holiday celebrations. As soon as Halloween ends you will see parks preparing and launching Christmas celebrations soon after.
Although dates are not currently set, EPCOT is expected to debut it’s International Festival Of The Holidays around the last week of November. EPCOT at Christmas is magical but if you want to see it without the crowds that throng to the area in late December your best time to visit is a weekday between Thanksgiving weekend and the middle of December for a fortnight.
Thanksgiving, a hugely popular public holiday in America, packs all the parks to bursting for one weekend and many days the proceeding week after so try to avoid this week if you can.

December 2024
Like I have previously said, the first fortnight is a great time to visit to see the EPCOT in full on Christmas mode without the crowds of the last fortnight. Many people head straight for Magic Kingdom for Christmas but EPCOT does pretty well on its own.
If visiting later in December, and its within your budget, consider purchasing Genie+ for everyone in your party. EPCOT’s has far fewer main attractions that other parks so if you want to visit without purchasing Genie+ and you stay on resort you really need to make use of the 30 minutes early entry to knock out some popular attractions before the queues get too high.

Frequently Asked Questions
I hope you have found the EPCOT crowd calendar useful. Here are some popular questions that people usually ask but please reach out on the button below if you have any further questions.
Does Disney Publish A Crowd Calendar?
No, there is no official Disney crowd calendar for any of their parks, in the US or in any other country.
But using a crowd calendar combined with your own research will help you figure out the best time for you to go and, to a degree, manage your expectations.
If your dates are set a crowd calendar will help you get the most out of your time and manage expectations about how much you think you will get done versus the reality.
Overall when is the quietest month?
There are now seldom few days where you will find any Disney theme park “empty” as you may have done a few years ago. But crowd-level patterns in EPCOT do follow a lot of the same general rules as other parks in the Orlando area.
Early March and late April are good if you want to avoid the heat and humidity of summer but, conversely, late March and early April is uber popular with university students on their Spring Break.
September is a good month to visit if you like the heat and don’t mind the possibility of a hurricane stopping your plans for a day or two.
If you need to visit in the school holidays late August is actually a lot quieter than July as US schools start the autumn term in early August but there is humidity, heat and a lot of rain to deal with.
Easter and May school holidays in the UK are good times to visit for decent weather (hot by our standards) without the crowds and peak rainfall. Remember this is the tropics and you should pack to expect rain any time of the year.
Should I Avoid EPCOT's Festival Dates?
Generally speaking no as EPCOT’s festivals make up a big chink of its year making avoiding one impractical during your stay.
You can use some general rules to minimise exposure to festival crowds.
Weekends and evenings will be busier than weekdays as locals will visit EPCOT outside of work for a few hours or for a day to wind down. EPCOT’s park hours are pretty much set, opening at 9 am and closing at 9 pm. Use these to your advantage. Visit early in the morning to knock out some popular attractions with minimal wait times.
How do you come to your scores?
Parks don’t release official crowd data so my score is a combination of historical data, special event announcements, daily entrance pricing and a little educated guessing.
The score is representative of this park only. 9 represents a day that is much busier than an average day when you can get most of the popular rides done. On days with scores of 7 or higher you may struggle to move freely around certain sections of the park and the most popular attractions would top 2-hour queues from mid-morning through the early afternoon.
Are premium queue options a necessity?
That’s going to depend foremost on your budget and then the time of year you are visiting.
Premium queue options are not cheap and please don’t ever get into debt because you feel pressured that you need to purchase it. You can still have a great holiday without purchasing up-charge experiences and add-ons.
EPCOT, along with Animal Kingdom are probably the 2 least Genie+ friendly parks oweing to a low attraction count meaning more guests trying to get on fewer attractions which book up quicker.
EPCOT is easily doable without Genie+ but you do have to have a plan in place to minimise your wait time at popular attractions. Staying onsite helps a lot with this because of the 30-minute early entry.
How accurate is your crowd calendar?
No crowd calendar is an exact science. Crowd calendars should only be used as part of your own research to manage expectations on a given day.
Do crowd calendars help? Absolutely! But relying solely on a crowd calendar is nowhere near as effective as putting a little planning into your days in the parks. Knowing a little of the layout and top attractions to visit plus a not-visit list!
I know you don’t necessarily want to plan your holidays but an Orlando holiday is not your typical beach holiday. Even a little planning will go a long way.
